We are seeking a Power BI Engineer who is equal parts technical problem-solver and customer-facing collaborator. In this hybrid role, you’ll help customers actively clean up and optimize their Power BI environments by writing scripts, guiding migrations, and surfacing critical insights. Internally, you’ll work closely with our engineering team to understand Power BI’s APIs and metadata, enabling seamless integration with the Datalogz platform.
You’ll play a key role in building the systems and tooling that improve BI operations—tackling challenges such as stale reports, duplicate datasets, sensitive data exposure, premium feature misuse, and more. If you're excited by the opportunity to work on both the engineering side and directly with customers, this is the role for you.

What you'll do:
Partner directly with enterprise customers to understand their BI environments, assist with cleanups, and lead data and report migrations using Power BI APIs and scripting.

Become a subject-matter expert in Power BI metadata, logs, and user behavior, and help shape how we ingest, process, and act on this data within the Datalogz platform.
Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code using Python, SQL, DAX, and scripting tools (e.g., Shell, PowerShell).
Lead customer-focused projects such as report consolidation, sensitivity labeling, consumption optimization, and cost-saving initiatives.
Design and execute BI environment migrations and configuration cleanups in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and design teams to translate real-world BI challenges into scalable features.
Contribute to a growing library of automated remediations, scripts, and transformation utilities that drive actionability in our product.
About you:
5+ years of hands-on experience with Power BI, including strong proficiency in DAX, dashboard design, and admin workflows.
Experience extracting and transforming metadata and logs from Power BI APIs, including understanding permissions, report usage, dataset refreshes, and audit data.
Proficiency in Python and SQL for building ETL pipelines and automated data solutions.
Scripting skills in Shell, PowerShell, or equivalent for writing automation utilities and deployment scripts.
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and services (AWS or Azure).
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders, including leading external working sessions with customers.
Analytical and data modeling skills, including comfort working with large-scale BI environments.
Experience with additional BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik, Spotfire) is a plus.
Prior experience in a B2B SaaS, venture-backed startup is preferred.
Comfortable working both independently and in collaborative, distributed teams—including in asynchronous, remote-first environments.
